It’s a new year, I’m happy to be spending it surrounded by novels, and excited as always to have a new @womensprize and @natwest Young Adult Reading List pick for you! A Swift Pure Cry by Siobhan Dowd is an incredible story of one girl's courage in the face of prejudice and hardship within a small community in Ireland. Shell lives in County Cork, and after her mother dies, her obsessively religious father descends into alcoholic mourning. Shell is left to care for her younger brother and sister in this story of love and loss, religious belief and spirituality. Take some time to yourself to read this beauty and let me know what you think. #youngadultreadinglist

#TBT to the fantastic @WomensPrize & @natwest event I hosted last year for a group of the most brilliantly ambitious and inquisitive teenage girls at @thewayyouthzone in Wolverhampton, interviewing the wonderful author @kitdewaal followed by a Q&A and a zine-making workshop. The aim was to inspire girls to believe in themselves enough to reach out and achieve their goals and I was super impressed by their thoughtful, engaging questions and creativity. Here's a little snippet!

It’s perhaps a little late to post this as 2019 is well underway, but with a belated ‘Happy New Year!’ to ya, I’ve finally taken the time to reflect on what an absolute bloody behemoth 2018 was. On top of insane TV and radio opportunities via Carnage, The Voice, Strictly, Capital, Fresh, Trending, IOW and many many more, it is overwhelming to look back at the shows, the shoots, the covers and the campaigns, as well as perhaps two of my proudest moments: writing on International Women’s Day for Marie Claire and hosting the Amnesty stage at the Women’s March. Sending endless gratitude to the channels, production companies & publications who have believed in me and given me these invaluable opportunities, and to everyone I’ve worked with in front of and behind the camera/mic: it’s been a blast, thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me share in your talents and your journeys. Above all though, I want to thank my incredible team @insanityhq @iswiz @neilransome @emzsherwood @lauracoleman457 for their tireless graft and support, it really is down to your hard work and excellence that this year has been such a success; and my dear @abbiemaymua it has been a joy to spend so much time with you, thank you for making me look alive.
And of course, to everyone who has followed my work, sent messages of support, voted on Strictly, and just been so unbelievably, heart-warmingly lovely this year, I can’t even put into words how much I appreciate it. Thank you.
In the interest of absolute honesty however, I want to take this opportunity to stress that Instagram is a filtered highlights reel. Working 15-18 hour days on 3 hours sleep and never taking a holiday ISN’T sustainable, and as fantastic as this year has been for professional achievements, my personal life and mental health have certainly suffered. It’s hard to take stock of or enjoy all of this when you’re just so damn tired. So to all of you grafters out there, join me in making 2019 the year that we look after ourselves that bit better, make time for friends, family and rest, and never lose sight of the things that really matter to us. Be kind, be honest, be healthy, be happy. Namaste bitches.

It’s perhaps a little late...

I love travelling solo so much, but it was such a joy to link up with my bro Theo while in KL and spend time with our my parents there too. What a lovely way to spend New Year with 3 of my 5 favourite people ☺️❤️

Vick is a multi-lingual TV and radio presenter, print and broadcast journalist, who this year won Marie Claire's Broadcasting Powerhouse Award, was named Hello Magazine's Rising Star and Fabulous Mag's Future Face. Catch her on Capital Breakfast, Sky One's Carnage, 4Music, ITV2, BT Sport, Disney Channel, presenting backstage for The Voice and reporting for ITN. She's also currently *trying* to learn to dance on BBC One's hit show Strictly Come Dancing.

Hello! Welcome to my website, you lovely lot…

…It’s been a busy few years and I’ve basically not slept: from writing for a national newspaper in Buenos Aires to climbing into the tellybox at MTV, before landing at ITN as one of their youngest reporters.

En route I’ve been dubiously trusted to harass…sorry, interview… the biggest names in the biz -from Justin Timberlake to Harrison Ford- and somewhere along the way started getting up at 4am every day to do that breakfast show. I’ve found myself presenting coverage of the beautiful game, cross-discipline cycle sport, precarious Soap Boxes and car crashes in the South African desert with Freddie Flintoff and Lethal Bizzle. Standard. The journey continues.

Enjoy, ya filthy animals.
