The Story So Far...

Hailing from a Nigerian-Geordie household in the beautiful climes of Newcastle upon Tyne, I did all the extra ed classes under the sun to get into Cambridge to study for a degree in modern languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese). Setting up uni TV channels and taking runner jobs at the weekends led to a year working as a print journalist for the Argentina Independent and hosting an MTV show in Buenos Aires, graveyard shifts in production companies and newsrooms on both sides of the camera, and content with which I pretty relentlessly hassled commissioners. For that, I am eternally sorry.

Hours and hours of live TV and radio later and I can be found presenting music, news, entertainment and sports programming for major broadcasters and online. Between MTV, ITN, Capital and 4Music, I’ve had the honour of interviewing some of the biggest dogs in the biz, backstage at festivals, on the red carpet and while having Colin Farrell lick prawn cocktail (yes, it’s the 50s) off my dress at press junkets (not actually that long a story).

Alongside regular daily presenting duties across Capital, 4Music and ITV2, 2017-8 highlights included landing the maddest show on TV, Carnage, on Sky One with Lethal Bizzle and Freddie Flintoff; 19 hours of live coverage of Isle Of Wight Festival with absolute legend Edith Bowman on Sky Arts and Sky One; hosting the Summertime Ball to an 80,000-strong Wembley Stadium; curating and hosting the most beautiful series of next gen artists whose monthly performances for our 4Music/Box shows Fresh Focus and Fresh Forward are truly sublime; and our breakfast show retaining its number 1 spot in London and surpassing a million listeners.

My first article was published in Marie Claire, and it was lovely to receive the Broadcast Powerhouse Award at the Marie Claire Future Shapers Awards. Thanks a bunch also to Hello, Fabulous, Disorder, Wonderland, Arcadia, Evening Standard, Crookes and THRDs for your Ones To Watch nods this year; I really appreciate you watching!

Trained to shoot (Canon 5D, Sony EX1), edit (Avid, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere) and produce to tight newsroom turnarounds, and with strong creative editorial vision when script-writing, as an ITN reporter I’m responsible for the whole process from start to finish. My favourite broadcasters are documentarians (Louis Theroux, Dawn O’Porter and Reggie Yates, I’m looking at you, ya beauts) and my first TV documentary The Slenderman Killings was broadcast on Channel 5 at Halloween. I’ve been writing, producing and presenting shorts delving into topics I feel passionate and curious about. Just ask, I’d love to tell you about them.

As a human rights activist of many years, working alongside refugee volunteer projects and Amnesty International as an ambassador for their Women Breaking Barriers campaign have been causes very close to my heart. Our work continues and I’m feeling so positive about the change for good that we are powerful enough to incite when we stand together.

Some Miscellanea: I like dancing, playing football, Almodovar films, the colour turquoise, Beyonce and tiny animals wearing clothes.
